Ohio State says Maurice Clarett is probable for Saturday's game against Minnesota. The freshman running back left during the first series of the Penn State game with a shoulder injury and never returned.

The Buckeyes fell 2 spots to #6 in the new AP poll and remained #4 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll

LPGA star Tammie Green and three others were honored by the ZDGA Monday at the VFW. Heavy local golf contributor Bill Phillips, 8-time ZDGA champion Steve Cope, and Jaycee Superintendent Mitch Bowman were inducted into the ZDGA Hall of Fame. Green was a 2001 inductee but couldn't make the dinner last year due to a pre-scheduled LPGA fundraising event in Atlanta, GA.

For the two Zanesville Middle Schools, it's just like Ohio State vs. Michigan. Not only do the two schools wear similar colors (Roosevelt: Scarlet and Grey, GC: blue and gold) but the Bulldogs refer to it as the Roosevelt game and the Rough Riders refer to it as the Grover Cleveland game. 1500 people attended this year's meeting and watched Grover Cleveland score 18 unanswered points to win 24-6. Jerry Quarles had 2 touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

Maysville Senior Kyle Coconis won the Division II High School Golf State Championship Saturday.
Coconis shot a one over 73 in the final round to become the first golfer in the Zanesville area to win an individual championship. He finished with a total score of 148 to win by 3 strokes at Ohio State's Scarlet Course.

Buckeyes starting cornerback Richard McNutt will miss the rest of the season. The 5-11 Junior has arthritis in his ankle and the injury is so serious, it may end McNutt's career. Freshman E.J. Underwood is expected to start in his place vs. San Jose State.

The jacket fits for Columbus and Z-102. Blue Jackets games can now be heard on Z-102 starting this Thursday with the regular season opener. Columbus hosts Chicago at 7 PM with newly signed rookie Rick Nash. The 18-year-old scribbled his John Hancock on a 3-year deal that could pay Nash upwards of 8-10 million dollars annually with incentives.

Two weeks ago, WHIZ reported that 10 Meadowbrook High School football players said they were kicked off the team by Colts Head Coach Steve Warden.

Bengals head coach Dick LeBeau announced Monday that Akili Smith would be the team's starting QB for this weekend's game with Tampa Bay. Smith, the starter in 2000 and 3rd overall selection in the '99 draft, hasn't played this season and only started 2 games last year.

The Buckeyes leading rusher won't be running anywhere Saturday.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel announced freshman Maurice Clarett will not play Saturday against Cincinnati. Clarett re-aggravated an old injury last weekend, had an MRI Sunday and underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday morning.
Clarett will be replaced by sophomores Lydell Ross and Maurice Hall. Freshman JaJa Riley should also see some action carrying the ball.
