Cambridge - WHIZ-TV has learned 3 area high school boys basketball players have been suspended for playing in a mens league game earlier this month. Cambridge coach Gene Ford tells WHIZ-TV that Bobcats forward Levi Larrison and center Brandon Durben played in the non-scholastic game along with Meadowbrook junior Travis Watson. Ford informed the OHSAA of the violation, which in-turn handed down the suspensions. The OHSAA allows high school players to participate in non-scholastic games, but...
Zanesville - The Old Timers Baseball Association inducted four new members into its Hall of Fame Monday night. Scott Anders, Jeff Davis and Hardy Holt were present to accept their inductions. The deceased Milton Gaunder also was inducted. Anders is the fourth member of his family to gain induction. Anders and Davis still play baseball competitively in the Central Ohio League.
Cinci signed four players Thursday to avoid arbritation. Infielders Aaron Boone and Jason Larue and Pitchers Ryan Dempster and Scott Williamson all get one year contracts. Boone received 3.7 million dollars, the highest payout for next season.

Cincinnati hired Marvin Lewis as the team's new head coach Tuesday. The Washington defensive coordinator has coveted an NFL head coaching position for a couple of years now. Lewis even turned down the head coaching position at Michigan State so he could remain in the NFL - now with the NFL's worst team from 2002. Lewis beat out former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin and Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Mike Mularchy for the job.
Columbus parted ways with the only coach the team has ever known Tuesday. The Blue Jackets fired Dave King after two-plus seasons with Columbus. The Jackets have the second worst record in the NHL's Western Conference. The team fired King a day after the Jackets lost to the worst team in the Conference, Nashville, 5-1 on Monday. President and GM Doug McClean will serve as interim coach.

Saint Vincent-Saint Mary, the team with high school superstar LeBron James, reached #1 in the USA Today Top 25 High School Basketball rankings. The Fighting Irish defeated Mater Dei, a team from California and previously ranked in the top 5, over the weekend. The game was shown on ESPN2. SVSM also beat a previous USA Today number one team, Oak Hill academy, also on ESPN2.
Muskingum Junior Lindsay Mast was named OAC Player of the Week for her sharpshooting performance over the winter break. Mast hit 17 of 22 field goals including 10 of 13 from three-point range in the last two games. The guard averaged 23.5 points per game over that period.
