Cambridge and John Glenn haven't lost in 2003, yet they can't crack the top 10 this year. The Bobcats and Muskies are ranked 12th and 13th respectively in the latest AP Boys Basketball Poll. Cambridge defeated Meadowbrook and Coshocton last week. John Glenn won a 2nd consecutive MVL title with victories against Mayvsille and River View.

Zanesville forward Chucky Pletcher will miss the remainder of the season with an ACL tear. Pletcher completely tore the ligament at the end of a practice last Thursday. The Blue Devils senior averaged 9.5 ppg and shot just under 60% from the field.

The Blue Devils will play the nation's #1 high school basketball player on the nation's current number one team in the country. A Summit County Judge ordered a temporary restraining order, blocking the OHSAA's suspension of James. The Judge did suspend James for two games and his school, Saint Vincent-Saint Mary in Akron, chose for James to sit out the regular season finale against Scott. High School Superstar Lebron James has been ruled ineligible for the rest of the season for accepting free clothes. The OHSAA announcement comes just 4 days after James was cleared for accepting a Hummer SUV as a gift from his mother. Last Saturday, James was given two throwback jerseys from a clothing store worth $845. OHSAA bylaws specify that an athlete forfeits his amateur status by "capitalizing on athletic fame by receiving money or gifts of monetary value." James and his top ranked...

Days after the OHSAA ruled that Lebron James' Hummer SUV was purchased legally, another investigation begins. The OHSAA is looking into clothes that James may have been given that value a reported $845. The high school phenom is said to have receieved a pair of throwback jerseys from a clothing store last weekend. The OHSAA rules state that a player forfeits his eligibility by capitalizing on fame from receiving gifts that of monetary value.

Zanesville Football Coach John Lucas tells WHIZ that football and basketball star Jordan Lear will sign a letter of intent to play football at the University of Cincinnati next year. Lucas says the Senior chose football over hoops because UC has the academic programs that Lear wants. He also says the Bearcats coaching staff indicated that Lear has a good chance to see the field as a Punter as soon as next year. Lear averaged close to 41 yards per punt for the Blue Devils his Senior season.

When Zanesville plays Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary on February 14th, LeBron James WILL be eligible to suit up. The OHSAA has ruled that the high school hoops phenom did not violate his amateur status when he accepted a new Hummer H2 SUV as an 18th birthday gift from his mother. OHSAA commissioner Clair Muscaro said Monday that he was shown official records from the bank and the dealership where the Hummer was purchased and they show that his mother was the only one who financed them.

Tampa Bay Head Coach Jon Gruden has come a long way since he was Muskingum's Quarterback as a Freshman in 1981. On Sunday, Gruden will coach the Buccaneers against his former team, the Raiders, in NFL's Super Bowl. Gruden played under current Muskies head coach Jeff Heacock for one year, before transferring to the University of Dayton.
