The playoffs are heating up and we've got the games on AM1240 and Z102!

Friday Night's action features a double header from Zanesville High School. John Glenn takes on West Holmes in game one while Philo battles Cambridge in the second game. Pre-game rolls about 5:45 with game one tip off at 6:00 p.m. the nightcap starts about 7:45 with the pre-game. The Winners return to Zanesville High school to play on Thursday March 6th

1) Cambridge receives the top seed by a near unanimous vote (John Glenn only team that didn't vore for Bobcats).

2) Meadowbrook pulled the biggest surprise by selecting to play John Glenn in the sectional semifinals. "We feel they're the best match-up for us," Colts Head Coach Dan Weekley said. "We play better against better competition." The Muskies knocked out the Colts in last year's sectional.

Lebron James scored a career high 52 points in his first game back from an OHSAA suspension and his final game before playing Zanesville HS. James' Saint Vincent-Saint Mary team, ranked #1 in the country by USA Today, defeated #7 Westchester (CA) 78-52. ZHS travels to Akron to play SVSM this Friday.

Jordan Lear realizes how rare his situation will be at Cincinnati.

And not simply because he's tall.

"Coach Minter said he's the first punter he's had that can look down on offensive lineman," said James Lear, Jordan's father.

The 6-7 Lear signed a letter of intent to play football with the University of Cincinnati Wednesday. Lear has indicated that Beatcats coaches believe he can see the field in his freshman season.

Cambridge and John Glenn haven't lost in 2003, yet they can't crack the top 10 this year. The Bobcats and Muskies are ranked 12th and 13th respectively in the latest AP Boys Basketball Poll. Cambridge defeated Meadowbrook and Coshocton last week. John Glenn won a 2nd consecutive MVL title with victories against Mayvsille and River View.

Zanesville forward Chucky Pletcher will miss the remainder of the season with an ACL tear. Pletcher completely tore the ligament at the end of a practice last Thursday. The Blue Devils senior averaged 9.5 ppg and shot just under 60% from the field.

The Blue Devils will play the nation's #1 high school basketball player on the nation's current number one team in the country. A Summit County Judge ordered a temporary restraining order, blocking the OHSAA's suspension of James. The Judge did suspend James for two games and his school, Saint Vincent-Saint Mary in Akron, chose for James to sit out the regular season finale against Scott. James has already missed one game this year. The Judge scheduled a hearing for February 19th to decide...

-Senior Center Toni Smalley becomes the 2nd player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career points. Smalley scored 17 pts and now has 1,012 (6 pts shy of tying the all-time Sheridan record).
