NEW YORK (AP) — Chris Kreider and the New York Rangers agreed on a two-year deal shortly before going to arbitration.
For the second straight day, the Rangers averted arbitration with a restricted free-agent forward. The 23-year-old Kreider made a deal Wednesday morning with an average salary of $2.475 million moments before the scheduled hearing. He will receive $2.35 million next season and $2.6 million during 2015-16.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Houston Astros have placed outfielder George Springer on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps and recalled utility man Marc Krauss from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
