PHILADELPHIA (AP) — With the losses piling up, the Philadelphia Phillies are moving closer to a major overhaul.

The Phillies followed up a successful road trip with a dismal homestand that left them a season-worst eight games behind in the mediocre NL East. They were 34-38 and only 3 1-2 games out of first place following three straight wins in Atlanta and two more in St. Louis.

But they're 2-8 since and just finished getting swept by the first-place...

LONDON (AP) — As the rain wreaks havoc on the Wimbledon schedule and players start to complain, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have found little reason to worry about the weather.

It helped that both got to play Monday on Centre Court, the only spot at the All England Club with a retractable roof.

And with back-to-back, straight-set victories, they moved closer to a semifinal showdown that would be a rematch of the final last year, when Murray beat...

BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) — After being touted as one of the World Cup's entertainers, it was a gritty performance which got France through to the quarterfinals in a 2-0 victory over Nigeria on Monday.

France's forward line had made headlines with eight goals in its opening two group games, but there was little flair on display in a hard-fought contest against the African champions.

France needed a late header from midfielder Paul Pogba and an injury-...

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Arjen Robben says he won't change his playing style or personality after winning a decisive stoppage-time penalty in the Netherlands' 2-1 win against Mexico.

Robben provoked a furor after Sunday's round-of-16 match by telling Dutch broadcaster NOS he had dived in a first-half incident, but not for the penalty when he was challenged by Mexico captain Rafa Marquez.

Robben tells reporters: "I don't change myself, that is my...

SAO PAULO (AP) — With two World Cup matches already decided in shootouts, Argentina is practicing penalties ahead of its second round game against Switzerland on Tuesday.

Coach Alejandro Sabella on Monday said the Argentines have been shooting spot kicks "in an informal way," though he added that doing it in practice is very different from doing it in front of tens of thousands of spectators with the team's World Cup survival at stake.
