American Jozy Altidore scored the decisive goal in the 14th minute, leading AZ Alkmaar over PSV Eindhoven 2-1 Thursday night in Rotterdam, Netherlands, for its first Dutch Cup title in 31 years.

Adam Maher put AZ ahead in the 12th minute, and Altidore doubled the lead with his 31st goal of the season in all competitions, his eighth in the cup to go along with 23 in the league.

HELSINKI (AP) — Defending world champion Russia was upset 2-1 by France at hockey worlds.

A team stacked with NHL and KHL players bowed to a group of mainly French league players who ended Russia's 13-match winning streak at the world championship in Helsinki on Thursday.

France coach Dave Henderson says it's "so big for French hockey it's hard to describe."

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Colin Moran has grown from the top freshman in the country to one of the nation's most dangerous hitters and a top draft prospect for No. 1 North Carolina.

The United States has dropped one spot to 29th in the FIFA rankings.

World and European champion Spain held the top spot for the 19th straight month, and the top 10 remained unchanged. Germany was second, followed by Argentina, Croatia, Portugal, Colombia, England, Italy, Netherlands and Ecuador.

Only seven international games were played in the month before the rankings were released Thursday.

DENVER (AP) — Even as Masai Ujiri accepted the NBA's executive of the year trophy from club President Josh Kroenke on Thursday, the Denver Nuggets general manager said he would have given it up gladly in exchange for a deep playoff run.

DECATUR, Ala. (AP) — A city judge has dismissed a charge accusing Baltimore Ravens linebacker Rolando McClain of lying to police about his identity.

The charge stemmed from McClain writing profanity on a ticket for a window-tint violation on April 21 instead of signing his name.

Circuit Clerk Jessica Hayes said Thursday municipal Judge Billy Cook Jr. dismissed the charge at the prosecution's request. She says McClain pleaded guilty to the window tint...

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — The Washington Capitals have called up right wings Joey Crabb and Tom Wilson from Hershey of the AHL ahead of Friday's Game 5 against the New York Rangers.
