CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson running back Zac Brooks had surgery on the foot he injured earlier this month.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney had previously said Brooks would miss the season and return next fall as a redshirt junior. Brooks was the team's leading returning rusher and was expected to be a significant part of the 16th-ranked Tigers' offense this season.

Swinney also said Wednesday that reserve offensive lineman Oliver Jones tore an anterior...

NEW YORK (AP) — As Croatia's Ivan Dodig knows all too well after his 2014 Grand Slam season, you can't win if you can't finish.

At the Australian Open in January, he stopped playing in the fourth set of his second-round match, citing cramps.

At the French Open in May — shortly after he said he injured his ribs at a tournament in Rome — Dodig lasted all of four games before quitting in the first round.

And at the U.S. Open on...

CINCINNATI (AP) — Outfielder Jorge Soler homered in his first big league at-bat on Wednesday night off Cincinnati's Mat Latos, a noteworthy debut for the Cubs' 22-year-old prospect.

Soler connected on a 2-1 pitch from Latos in the second inning, hitting the ball onto the netting above the Reds bullpen in center field. He's the first Cubs player to homer in his first at-bat in the majors since Starlin Castro connected off Homer Bailey in Cincinnati on May 7, 2010....

CLEVELAND (AP) — On the eve of their final exhibition game, the Browns had denial turn into reality.

They won't have star wide receiver Josh Gordon at all this season, and it's time to figure out how they're going to replace all he gives them.

Gordon's indefinite suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy was upheld on Wednesday, leaving the Browns (0-3) without their top playmaker. That's devastating for Cleveland's offense, which has...
