BOSTON (AP) — Red Sox manager John Farrell calls outfielder Rusney Castillo "an exciting, athletic player."

The Cuban defector is expected to show off those talents for Boston soon, perhaps within the next week.

Farrell spoke Friday amid multiple media reports that the Red Sox had agreed with Castillo on a $72.5 million, seven-year contract.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — For Chargers linebacker Manti Te'o, it's another dreaded summer rerun.

The Chargers play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, and just like last year, Te'o is skipping the third preseason game with a sprained foot.

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) — Aspen's Tejay van Garderen of BMC Racing held his 20-second lead Friday over Rafal Majka of Tinkoff-Saxo following a 104-mile ride from Woodland Park into Breckenridge.
