Police say a former WWE champion known as Daniel Bryan chased two burglary suspects he saw exiting his Phoenix home this week.

According to police, Bryan Danielson and his wife drove into their carport and that's when the wrestler saw a door to his house start to open. Two men ran out, and Danielson gave chase.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions have signed free agent punter Drew Butler and released safety Gabe Lynn.

The team announced the moves Friday.

Butler played 16 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2012 season. He had a net average of 37.8 yards on 77 punts for the Steelers.

Sam Martin, Detroit's incumbent punter, had a net average of 40.4 yards as a rookie last season.

MONTREAL (AP) — Two-time winner Jim Furyk birdied two of his last four holes Friday in the Canadian Open to match the Royal Montreal record at 7-under 63 and tie Tim Petrovic atop the leaderboard.

The 44-year-old Furyk, the 2006 winner at Hamilton and 2007 champion at Angus Glen, matched Petrovic at 10-under 130 on the tree-line Blue Course.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Athletics have acquired minor league right-hander Deck McGuire from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash.

The A's said Friday that McGuire will be optioned to Triple-A Sacramento.

The 25-year-old McGuire is 6-9 with a 4.21 ERA in 20 starts for Triple-A Buffalo and Double-A New Hampshire. The 6-foot-6 McGuire was picked 11th overall by Toronto in the 2010 draft.

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Colts running back Vick Ballard was carted off the field Friday with a lower left leg injury.

Team owner Jim Irsay, making his first appearance at training camp, said Ballard would have an MRI.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Illinois has finalized its nonconference basketball schedule and will open Nov. 7 with an exhibition against Quincy.

According to a news release Friday, that will be followed by home dates on Nov. 14 against Georgia Southern, Nov. 16 against Coppin State, Nov. 21 against Austin Peay and Nov. 24 against Brown.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon has reported to training camp as he awaits an appeal hearing with the NFL on a possible suspension.

Gordon is scheduled to meet with the league on Aug. 1. He's facing an indefinite suspension for violating the substance abuse policy for at least the third time. Gordon was suspended for the first two games last season.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks have signed power forward Adreian Payne, the team's first-round pick last month.

The 6-foot-10 Payne, from Michigan State, was the 15th overall pick.

Payne averaged 12.5 points and seven rebounds while starting all six games for the Hawks' Las Vegas summer league team this month.
