The Morgan County Re-Enactors Association will hold their 16th annual Spring Civil War Ball, on March 20th. The Ball will once again be held at Bur Oak State Park Lodge. The Ball is open to anyone in period dress and Spectators are always welcome. Those wishing to participate in the event are asked to pre-register by contacting Mary Ellen Van Horn at 740-554-7601 by March 10th; however walk-on's are welcome. The registration fee for the Ball is $20 single & $30 for couples. Those wishing to reserve a room should contact the Lodge directly and ask for Kathy Jones. If you have never attended such an event, then please consider coming to see the lovely dresses of the period and the dancing from yesteryear. Imagine a time when manners and gallantry was the norm. The ball promises to give a glance of the past that is our history and the lodge at Bur Oak is such a beautiful setting for this event.
The Ball will begin at 8pm with the Grand March, called by our Ball Mistress for the evening, Elizabeth Reeve. The music for the evening will be provided by the Back Porch Swing Band. There will be a wonderful evening of dancing and socializing for all who attend.
Along with the usual Waltzes and other dances from the period, this year we will hold some cake walks and invite the public to join for the walks. Refreshments will be provided for all to enjoy. The ball will conclude with the lover's waltz around 10:45pm.
