The New Concord Area Arts and Recreation District (NCAARD) will unveil the newly-renovated New Concord SkateSpot to eager skateboarders with a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, July 17 from 11am to 4pm. Located on John Glenn School Road next to the New Concord Area Pool, the new concrete skate park includes street and traditional skate park obstacles to serve both styles of skaters. The grand opening will feature professional skateboarder Doug Brown, who will present his Skate Straight program at 11am. Skate contests with prizes from Applebees of Zanesville and American Ramp Company will begin at noon. A ribbon cutting by Mayor Greg Adams will be held at 2pm, followed by free skate and a raffle. The SkateSpot expansion was made possible by grants from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Tony Hawk Foundation along with funding and support from NCAARD, the SkateSpot Committee and the Village of New Concord.
Construction of the SkateSpot begins this week and will be completed by July 15th.
