An issue that has been the focal point of many City Council meetings is brought to a conclusion tonight.
In a count of five to three, Council voted to pass a legislation that rezones the former YMCA property from residential to commercial. In doing so, the current owner of the property, Ryan Dodson, can move his American Pride business to the site. This is the second time Council has voted on the issue, and this time around, a different decision was reached but it wasn't made...
Zanesville City Council members are expected to vote on a re-zoning issue Monday night. It's an issue that's been going on for a year now, ever since Ryan Dodson of American Pride purchased the old YMCA property on McIntire Avenue back in July of 2009. Dodson wants to move his business to the site, but the property needs to be re-zoned from a residential lot to a commercial one.
Neighbors, on both sides of the issue, in that ward say they're just tired of hearing about it.
The debate over rezoning the former Family Y is still a hot topic at City Council.
The legislation to turn the property off of McIntire Avenue from a residential to a commercial property was in its second reading tonight. If passed it would allow property owner Ryan Dodson to move his American Pride business to the site. Council members voted to pass the ordinance on to it's final reading in two weeks.
"I voted for the zoning at that time and thought the way the...
Zanesville City Council will address an important zoning issue for second reading at tonight's meeting. American Pride wants to use the old YMCA property on McIntire avenue for its business, but the facility needs to be re-zoned from a residential property to a commercial one.
The Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce President, Tom Poorman, approached the Board of Directors to see where they stand on the issue.
"It unanimously voted that the Board of Directors for...
Community members packed Council tonight to discuss a highly debated issue.
Due to the Mcintire Avenue Project being tabled at the last City Council meeting, tonight, community members representing both sides of the argument were able to express their thoughts and opinions.
"What I think we have to keep in mind is that even though we may oppose each other over particular issues, that doesn't necessarily mean that the other person's ideas are necessarily wrong or to be...
The debate continues with whether to rezone the former YMCA property on McIntire Avenue in Zanesville, and a local business needs the community's support.
At last week's City Council meeting, members tabled the issue to rezone the property until their next meeting. The piece of property is currently owned by the president of American Pride Ryan Dodson, but unless City Council agrees to rezone it, making it a commercial property, he cannot move his business to the site....
The YMCA building, located on McIntire Avenue, is no longer standing.
It was torn down this morning and the property's pool also was dug up.
American Pride Power and Equipment Owner, Ryan Dodson, bought the property back in July and says this is the first step to clearing the property so it is no longer an eye sore, but Dodson can't build anything on it until Zanesville City Council rezones it as a commercial property.
Council has rejected the rezoning issue once. Dodson...
