The Muskingum Valley chapter of the American Red Cross is hoping to raise money.

The organization is holding a pancake breakfast Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Applebee's restaurant on Maple Avenue.

Red cross Development Director Troy Alford said the money raised will go towards the Disaster Relief Fund.

Rain contines to fall throughout our area and that means there is a chance for flooding.

The need for blood is constant and locals are helping out.

The Muskingum Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross held a blood drive at Secrest Auditorium Thursday. Blood Donor Representative Rick Dayton says their is always a demand for blood but this time of year is especially important. The Summer months are known for warm weather, vacations, and time in the pool, but the American Red Cross wants to stress that it's still important to take time, and give blood.

It allows organizations across the country to recognize its volunteers.

"There are literally hundreds of volunteers. We're mobilized by our volunteers. They're the ones that keep us going.
