An ordinance allowing a moral claim for Rob Guentter was defeated by the Zanesville City Council Monday night.

The final vote was four in favor, three against, and two abstained. The ordinance needed five yes votes for passage. If passed, the amended ordinance would have given $50,700 to Guentter as payment for a grant he wrote resulting in the City of Zanesville's acquisition of a ladder truck for the fire department. It has been one week since the general election and Councilwoman, Ann Gildow walked away with the most votes for one of the three Council- at -Large positions.

Gildow said she is thankful to be re-elected because during her first term, she was still becoming acquainted with how things are structured at city council and now will be able to accomplish more. This is especially true with the newly elected council at large members who she will now be working alongside.

Democrat DJ Dittmar, Republican Ann Gildow, and Democrat Ted Zakany have been elected for the new Zanesville City Council At Large Seats.

Dittmar came in with 2,276 votes, Gildow came in with 2,682, and incumbent Ted Zakany took in 2,462 votes.

Incumbent Republican Andrew Roberts lost his seat with 2,049 votes.
