The problem of arson in Dresden is real. Village council members met on Thursday to talk about offering reward money to help find the person responsible.

For five years the village has been dealing with the work of an arsonist. The latest fire was set at 95 S.Chestnut Street in January and Dresden Mayor, David Mathew hopes that offering a reward will encourage people to come forward with information.

Two juveniles have been charged in connection with a fire that destroyed a historic schoolhouse in Perry County.

Court officials say a 16 and 17-year-old were each charged Friday with one count of arson and four counts of burglary in the May 14th fire at the Old Bristol Schoolhouse on Marietta Road.

The State Fire Marshall's Office had been called in to investigate the fire which was later determined to have been intentionally set.

The State Fire Marshal's office has ruled one of Tuesday's fires on National Road as arson.

Spokesman Shane Cartmill says investigators have determined that the fire at a trailer home at 5971 National Road was intentionally set.

No one was home at the time of the fire which broke out just before 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities are labeling a late night fire in Zanesville suspicious.

According to Assistant Zanesville Fire Chief Dave Huey, a passing motorist reported the fire at 1016 Sharon Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Monday.

Huey says when firefighters arrived on the scene flames were shooting out of the front of the home, which is where investigators believe the fire started. He says the fire is suspicious, because the home was vacant with no electricity.

Investigators continue to look for information into Sunday's barn fire in Morgan County that killed eight horses.

Shane Cartmill with the State Fire Marshal's Office says a Blue Ribbon Arson reward of up to$5,000 is now being offered to anyone with information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen something out of the ordinary at or around the time of the fire to come forward.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has ruled a barn fire in Morgan County that killed eight horses as arson.

A Zanesville man was arraigned on Wednesday in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court for charges relating to a car fire.

33-year-old Otis Moses II plead not guilty to two counts of arson and one felony count of receiving stolen property.

Zanesville Police said an early Friday morning fire is under investigation.

Lt. Bill Shaw said that around 3a.m. they believe someone set a parked truck on fire on Luck Avenue.

Police are trying to determine if the incident was a random act or the owner of the vehicle was targeted.

Lt. Shaw said the owner of the vehicle does not know why anyone would do that to him.

Police continue to search for a suspect.

Ohio firefighters and fire investigators got some hands on experience inspecting and learning about arsons.

It's not every day firefighters and fire investigators get to stand around and watch a fire. But Thursday, it was all in the name of learning.

Licking County officials say that a juvenile has been charged with two counts of arson in an April fire.

The fire at  1406 Seven Hills Road in Hanover, April 17, took place at an unoccupied house and out-building owned by the Longaberger Company.

Through interviews Licking County Fire Investigator Phil Winland said he determined a 16-year-old male and possibly two other teens were involved.
