Crews responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of Schaum Avenue around two a.m. where they found an intense fire. Fire Chief, Dave Lacy, says firefighters were able to get the blaze under control within a half hour. Arson is the cause of two Wednesday morning fires in the City of Zanesville.
Around 2am Zanesville Police Department Lt. Bill Shaw says the Zanesville Fire Department and police responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of Schaum Avenue. A garage was on fire and is considered a total loss. Some property nearby also suffered some damage.
Then just before 3am another garage was found on fire in the 400 block of Hedgewood Avenue.

The State Fire Marshal's Office says an early Sunday morning fire in Crooksville is being deemed arson.
Spokeman Shane Cartmill says there were no utilities to the structure on 572 Washington Street. It was unoccupied, and Cartmill says it hadn't been repaired in years.
