The Artist Colony of Zanesville has named their February artist of the month.

Stoey Stout is this month's artist of the month. Stout, who works full time for Zandex Health Care, is a founding member and director of "Pyrotechnica," and also plays the Native American flute.

This Friday, The Artist Colony of Zanesville will recognize Tower studio's and one of its young artists.

Marilyn Knell is actually in her sixties, but she has only been painting with oil and acrylics on canvas, for the past 8 years. She said she had always been interested in creativity, but never actually painted until recently.

The Artist Colony of Zanesville has selected photographer Becky Joseph as it's Artist of the Month for April.

Joseph grew up around photography, first with her grandfather snapping shots of the family in the fifties. Then her creative flare made her pick up the camera and take it outside, capturing flowers and landscapes

A new tool will guide tourists around venues in downtown Zanesville.

The Zanesville Downtown Association and the Muskingum County Community Foundation partnered to produce a tourism map, featuring local artists in the downtown area. Amy Kettner worked with members of the Artist Colony for a year to design it.

The Artist Colony of Zanesville is featuring the ZAAP gallery during the First Friday Art Walk.

Gary Graham is one of about 80 members of the Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project.  He said many of the artists will be available to answer questions and discuss their work, which ranges from paintings to pottery.

"I think variety is always a nice touch," said Graham.  "Choice is something that we all are privileged to have, and not everyone likes the same type...
