Eight extraordinary Zanesville High School Alums were celebrated on Saturday for their accomplishments after graduation.

Last night Ruth Federman, the late Bob Rankin, Todd Rollins, Jeff Apperson, the late Rolland Buxton, Mike Kaido, Kaye Matthews, and Don Seevers all received awards for their contributions to athletics or academics. A local funeral home employee is also the recipient of a prestigious service award.

 Jeff Hardwick works as Managing Partner at Bryan and Snider Funeral Home, while simultaneously providing services to the Central Ohio Lions Eye Bank. Big Brothers Big Sisters had a celebration this evening to honor many wonderful volunteers in the program.

The annual awards ceremony recognizes those who have gone above and beyond in their roles as big brothers or sisters in the past year. It also gives the donors an opportunity to listen to the inspiring stories.

A meeting took place today at Zanesville High School to recognize outstanding educators in our area.

The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center awarded educators from 17 school districts.

Some of Zanesville's best and brightest students were recognized by the Zanesville City Schools Board of Education.

Spelling bee winners, G.O.O.D. Award recipients, as well as players and coaches from the Zanesville High School Lady Blue Devils Soccer team were all recognized during a special meeting of the Board of Education.

It's a very exciting day for us here at WHIZ. Two of our reporters received special awards from the Associated Press, which held a special luncheon this afternoon to honor journalists across the state.
