Some of the biggest names in country music including Jason Aldean, Tim Mcgraw, and Miranda Lambert participated in this local contest and now it's your turn.

The Texaco Country Showdown is a national talent search that gives people with big voices from small towns a chance at stardom. The contest is open to talent in Zanesville and surrounding areas. Group performances are also welcome at the Texaco Country Showdown.

It's day two of "Stars and Stripes on the River" and many people are enjoying the music.

The band Marcum took the stage Wednesday afternoon at Zane's Landing Park.

Band members Hunter Lepi, Parker Alfman and Nick Emmert have been playing as a band for two years now.

They say their sound is not something often found in today's music scene.

It combines music, fluid movement, and even some interesting costumes.

The Tri-Valley School District held its 23rd Annual Band Classic Saturday evening. It gave 22 area bands an outlet to perform, and the Director of Tri-Valley Bands says the experience is something you can't get in the classroom.

The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band is kicking off its summer series at Zane Landing Park.

It had a special treat for those attending tonight. The concert featured an honors band made up of local high school students from the area.

"There's just a lot of energy and excitement...a love of music in these students. It's great to be able to work with them outside of school, " says artistic director, Jeff Roquemore.

Roquemore says they try to keep people coming back...

All 12 local high school bands, competing in this year's Bonanza of Bands, are earning recognition and some special awards.

They gathered at Zanesville High School's Sulsburger Stadium to each perform a handful of pieces in the 47th annual event.

Zanesville's Band Director, Kelley Ryan, says the Bonanza of Bands is the oldest running marching band competition in the state.
