Law enforcement officials in Ohio are being warned of a new drug called "Gravel." The drug, which get its name from what it resembles, is a mixture of rat poison, bath salts and methamphetamine, and is migrating north from the southern part of the United States. Muskingum Behavioral Health CEO, Steve Carrell, says Gravel is a "comeback for bath salts," with very similar side effects.

An Athens County deputy discovered bath salts in a vehicle with children on board.

It happened around 1:30 Friday on State Route 33 at Circle Hill.  Sheriff Patrick Kelly said the deputy stopped a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Brad Trotter of Zanesville.  That vehicle was registered to 29-year-old Jessica Earnest of Mount Clare, West Virginia, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says his deputies are executing search warrants at area gas station that are still selling bath salts. The Sheriff says his deputies are at three places – the B-P at Norwich, the Exxon Station on West Main Street and a third location. Lutz says today raids are part of an ongoing investigation with the Zanesville Police Department Drug Unit.  Lutz says his deputies have recovered bath salts.  No arrests have been made. ...

Detectives with the Zanesville Police Department are continuing to investigate the death of a 33-year-old female at the Econo Lodge Motel in Zanesville.

Sergeant Roush says patrol officers were initially dispatched to the motel room in regards to a disturbance in one of the rooms. The deceased victim has been identified as Angela Calendine of Zanesville who was found in room 103 around 4:15 Thursday afternoon.

Bath Salts, nick named 'The Synthetic Cocaine' draw an increasing concern from local officials as the drug manufacturers are said to be ahead of the law.

Bath salts are crystallized chemicals that are snorted, swallowed or smoked. According to Muskingum Behavioral Health executive Director, Steve Carrel, the drug provides an immediate rush leading to hallucinations. He said, the bath salts were never intended for baths and are manufactured for the sole purpose of getting high....
