Things are pretty quite at the Muskingum County Board of Elections.

Early voting is underway and there's a new option for those wanting to vote early in this year's election.

In the past the Muskingum County Board of Elections has only offered paper ballots to those wanting to beat the rush to the polls in November. This year, one official said they'll offer voters a choice between paper ballots or the electronic voting machines.

Once again, Community Impact Team representatives, Kate Paul and Amy Davis met with Muskingum County Commissioners requesting their approval on a tobacco free campus policy. The proposed policy would effect the 205 North 7th Street building in Zanesville. Currently there is no smoking allowed in the building due to state law. The General Election results are now official.

To date, the unofficial results from November 2nd only included absentee ballots and votes from all the polling locations in Muskingum County, but the Board of Elections counted and added provisional ballots Tuesday morning. All of the winners in each race stayed the same.

Early voting is underway.

Muskingum County Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill says 6,400 applications have been requested for absentee voters. She says some people aren't sure how they want to vote on Election Day.

"This way they can take their ballot and have it either mailed to them or they can carry their own ballot out of the office and they have the luxury to go home, sit down and review that ballot before they make a final decision," says Hamill.

The Muskingum County Board of Elections is done counting ballots for the 18th District Republican candidate.

It held its official automatic recount this morning.

Executive Director Chris Hamill says it's a time-consuming process that took them about three hours to complete.

"We take 5% of the count for that race. We had to come up with a number, which was 360. Then we have to draw each precinct to get to that number so we can recount the candidates' votes in that race...
