More than 75 adults took classes Saturday to help lead the youth in our area.

Today is a very special day for the Boy Scouts of America.

From now on Feb. 8 will be Boy Scouts of America Day in Zanesville. Mayor Howard Zwelling made the proclamation official this afternoon.

Boy Scouts across the country are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year and locally they're looking to honor someone in the area who's made a difference in the lives of scouts.

Local boy scouts were off the races Sunday afternoon.

Fifteen boy scouts from pack 121 out of Dresden, raced their homemade cars in the 40th Annual Pinewood Derby.

"They start with a block of wood with wheels and nails and they carve it and shape it and build it within a set of specs for length width, etc," explains Dan Riley, the Pack Committee Chairman.

Each race car must be 2 3/4 inches by 7 inches and not weigh over 5 ounces to compete...

The United Way is granting money to a local organization that they believe will have a positive effect on the community.

The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan county is giving the Muskingum Valley Boy Scouts $5,000 as part of its Community Grant Impact Funds. The Boy Scouts will use the money to develop a Learning for Life Post Program designed specifically for at-risk youth and youth in the juvenile court system.

If you drop by the Ohio University Zanesville campus you will notice several new additions... 101 to be exact.
