Back in 1963, the Jefferson High School basketball team was the toast of the town. Behind Hall of Fame coach Jack Van Reeth, the Jayhawks rolled off back-to-back state championships. Although they were underdogs going into the state tournament, senior Paul Prince hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer to lift them to their first title in school history.
Saturday night, the Tri-Valley Alumni Association honored the members and coaches of the 1963 and 1964 teams.
