The staff at Walgreens on Maple set up shop in their parking lot on Saturday afternoon to raise money for a good cause.

On Sunday, 13-year-old Maysville Middle School student Jared Helsel, lost his battle with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Red, white and gold balloons filled Ohio University Zanesville to bring awareness to a serious disease.

Thursday was the 8th annual Light The Night Walk. The event is a part of larger nationwide mission to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The funds raised will go towards education and research initiatives that doctors hope one day will lead to a cure.

Dr. Brad Brautigan of Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville is riding over 100 miles in the Pelotonia ride this weekend in honor of his former employee, Rita Church, who passed away from cancer in 2010.

A special memorial was held Friday night in order to raise money for a local woman who passed away after losing her fight with cancer.

Jana Hahn's husband says they found out she had Melanoma cancer four months ago and originally planned to have a benefit for her to help pay for her medical costs. A large crowd of people all wearing blue shirts filled Primrose Retirement Center Sunday.

They were all in attendance to support cancer patient, Darlene Ulry to help offset the high cost of medical bills. Her husband, Clyde Ulry works at the retirement home and the Life Enrichment Coordinator, Tammy Grayson says they all support each other at Primrose.

Team 'Sparks of Hope' held a bake sale Saturday morning to raise money for Relay for Life.

The bake sale was at the Walmart on Maple Ave. both Friday and Saturday. Shoppers bought cupcakes, cookies, hot dogs, nachos, cotton candy, and chicken sandwiches, with all of the proceeds going towards Relay for Life and The American Cancer Society.
