A local family, that has been touched by cancer several times, is trying to help others in the community fight their battles with cancer.

Hundreds have been gathering at the Saint Rose Parish Community Center for Kat's Memorial Cancer Benefit.

Event coordinator, Cheryl Dodson, says they hope to raise about 10 thousand dollars for the Perry County Cancer Alliance. It's an organization that was founded back in 1999 to help cancer patients financially.
