CASS MIND Academy is now the first organization in Muskingum County to offer an Autistic Learning Center and this past weekend and Tuesday, the school had an open house for interested or current families.

The CASS MIND mentoring service is in its sixth year of establishment and Tuesday night, its members celebrated with a Christmas party and talent show!

On Sunday, several young performers from the CASS MIND Academy, danced, sang and even mimed in a competitive talent contest at the Buckingham House.

KKIS or Keep Kids in School, was the first talent competition for the academy, where donors provided school supplies for children who need them. A panel of four judges evaluated the contestants based on their stage presence, technical ability, costume, creativity and more.

A school for visionaries is starting a new program to encourage the youth to follow their dreams.

The C.A.S.S M.I.N.D Academy started their Young Entrepreneurs series on Saturday with Madison Simons, a 16 year old college student, jockey and musician. Simons owns her own horse and taught other children the fundamentals of horse riding.She plans on using all of the money she raised for charity.

Aspiring designers got the chance to show of their design skills at the Runway Ready fashion challenge.

The competitors worked one-on-one with Zanesville's Nathaniel Paul who competed on the TV show, Project Runway. The contestants spent hours creating a one-of-a kind garment.

As one of its final presentations, the Southeastern Ohio Women and Girls Funding Network recognized three area organizations who are making a difference.

A new visionary school is now open to help at-risk students in the area.

The new C.A.S.S./M.I.N.D. Academy held its ribbon cutting Wednesday at the Alvah Buckingham House on Moxahala Avenue.
