Since 1981, Lambes has patrolled the streets of Zanesville, made sergeant, lieutenant and has spent the last 13 years as Zanesville's Police Chief. On Wednesday, Zanesville City Council members, friends, family and other law enforcement officers stopped by the police station to wish Lambes well at his retirement party. Lambes says there's no particular reason for why he's retiring, just that it's "time."

Zanesville Police said their investigation into a weekend shooting is progressing.

It happened at Hoppys on Putnam Avenue in the early morning hours Sunday, injuring four people.

Wednesday, Chief Eric Lambes spoke about the investigation. He said detectives continue to interview those who were there or have knowledge of the event and now have several people they're interested in, but no named suspects.

The past 48 hours have been a dangerous one for pedestrians on Zanesville roadways.

This week two children were hit by vehicles. One on 7th Street the other on Maple Avenue. In each accident those crossing the roadways failed to use designated crosswalks.

Zanesville Police Chief Eric Lambes said risk factors go up when not using these safety devices.

Zanesville Police recently made changes to staffing in hopes of giving the department a new perspective.

This week Chief Eric Lambes said he has moved around two of his captains and a lieutenant in order to fulfill some neglected areas. For the past year, Captain Kenneth Miller has been on leave. Before his leave Miller was in charge of some administrative duties. While he's been gone some aspects of his position have fallen behind. The department now needs to catch up.

City Council passed an emergency ordinance Monday night for the purchase of three new vehicles for the Zanesville Police Department. The new Dodge Chargers and all of the equipment that will be installed, will cost the city over 100-thousand dollars. Typically the police department purchases Crown Victoria's manufactured by Ford, but since they have been discontinued, they decided the Dodge Charger was the best choice.

A Zanesville Police Officer will face disciplinary action after a compromising photo surfaces.

The photo is currently making the rounds on social media websites. It was taken January 17 in downtown Zanesville on 6th Street around 5 to 6 a.m. It shows Patrolman Brooks sleeping in his vehicle while on duty. Chief Eric Lambes said the picture speaks for itself.

Officials at Zanesville Police Department keep in contact with local schools when it comes to safety.

The biggest school that they cover is Zanesville City. They also work with Bishop Rosecrans. Captain Tony Coury said that they do have some officers trained on how to deal with active shooters and how to handle an incident when they first respond.

A Catholic priest placed on administrative leave last week by the Columbus Diocese won't face charges in Muskingum County. He served in Zanesville over 40 years ago and is being accused of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Some of Zanesville's Police Officers were promoted to new ranks and positions Friday.

Around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Zanesville Police Department, four officers received promotions ranging from Sergeant to Captain.

Patrolman Jon McCoy was promoted to Sergeant, while Sergeants Chris Phipps and Chris Rice who were promoted to Lieutenant, and Lieutenant Tony Coury was promoted to Captain.

It is a wild end to the week after high winds blow through Zanesville and the rest of Ohio.

The National Weather Service says a Wind Advisory remains in effect for much of the state.

The strong winds knocked out power to homes, businesses and some traffic signals causing minor problems.
