The Zanesville Water Maintenance and Street departments will begin work on two projects within the next week resulting in the closure of some roads.

Zanesville Public Service Director Mike Sims said Water Maintenance crews will work to replace two water main valves on Maple Avenue.

South bound traffic will be reduced to one lane from Military Road to Country Club Drive and Country Club Drive will be closed from Fairway Lane to Maple Avenue.

Time is winding down for leaf collection in the city of Zanesville.

Public Service Director Mike Sims says by Friday, December 9th, the Street Department will have finished picking up leaves in Ward 6.

Leaf collection did have to be shortened this year due to budgetary restraints. Sims says the rainy weather has made leaf collection more difficult then in years past.

In total, about 150 loads of leaves were collected, which Sims says is a significant amount.

Most of the leaves across Southeastern Ohio have reached their peak and are beginning to fall.

That means lots of rakes will be in good use across the city, and starting monday, the Zanesville City Street Department will have three trucks picking up those piles of leaves.
