An area man is taken into custody following a domestic dispute that turned into a stand-off Tuesday morning in Coshocton County.

The Sheriff's Office says that 37-year-old Jason Payton's wife came to the station around 8 a.m. to report a domestic dispute at 345 South 5th Street.

Coshocton County Prosecutor Bob Batchelor will be running in the race for Common Pleas Court Judge in November.
 

Batchelor edged out his Republican opponent Van Blanchard Tuesday  by nearly 600 votes.He will face Democrat William Brown.
 

Also, it's good news for  the Coshocton County City School District. Their bond issue and tax levy for construction and improvements passed by about 400 votes.

A 78-year old man is pronounced dead after falling into a creek in Coshocton County.

The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office received a call at 10:40 Tuesday morning from Mildred Nesmith requesting an emergency squad for her husband.

Mildred told the sheriff's office her husband had left the house about one hour earlier, and when he didn't return, she began looking for him. According to the sheriff's office, James Nesmith was found unconscious partially in the water.

A few roads in Coshocton County shut down due to high water. According to the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office the following roadways are closed:

State Route 60 North of Blissfield

State Route 715 is closed at the dam

and County Road 410 just north of Plainford is closed

The flood waters are rising in Southeastern Ohio, causing some roads in our area to be closed.

In Coshocton County the sheriff's office is closing roads due to the water levels, causing area residents to have a tough time getting around.

"The fields are starting to flood," said Nellie resident Brent Birker. "The campers over here in the campground are going to have to do something. The water's going to get up there pretty high."

Power has been restored to AEP customers in Coshocton County according to its website aepohio.com.

American Electric Power is reporting around 1,000 of its customers in Coshocton County are without service.

Officials say they haven't been able to determine the location or cause of the outage.

They hope to have power restored to customers later this afternoon.

A barn in Coshocton County is a total loss after a fire.

It happened at 15287 State Route 60 just a few miles inside the Coshocton County border.

Dresden Fire Chief Carl Archer says a passerby called in the fire around 4 p.m.

He says he could see smoke from the fire from his station nearly four miles away. By the time crews arrived it was fully invovled.

All animals were able to get out of the barn.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A 30-year-old man was taken by Med Flight to Ohio State Medical Center after a late night accident Tuesday in Coshocton County.

According to the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office, Vincent Myers Jr. was traveling southbound on State Route 621 shortly before midnight when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and rolled, coming to a stop in a corn field near the Three Rivers Fire District station.

Myers injuries are not believed...
