The Muskingum County Commissioners held a bid opening on Thursday for a series of road pavement projects.

Members of the Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District met with the County Commissioners to give them their draft budget for the new year.

Each year the district factors in funding from local entities as well as the state to come up with final numbers, but workers say sometime it's difficult to produce an exact amount. This year they have set the budget at just around $350,000.

The Muskingum County Commissioners held bid openings for a million dollar project that's scheduled to start early this summer.

Three companies submitted bid proposals to complete construction on the New Life Lift Station and Sanitary Force Main on US 22. Stanley Miller Construction, Precision Pipeline and Zembra Brothers submitted bids that ranged from 1.3 million dollars to 1.5 million dollars.

The Muskingum County Commissioners and the Convention and Visitors' Bureau received $10,000 from the Muskingum County Community Foundation this week and they are already planning uses for the newly acquired funds.

A bid opening took place at the Muskingum County Commissioners Office on Thursday for a new county water project.

In conjunction with the 40 West Gratiot-Mt. Sterling existing pipe lines, both the Western Heights and Ridge Roads Water Projects will expand to include 45 properties on those two streets. The county commissioners received five bids from various companies to complete the project.

Officials from the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department met with the Muskingum County Commissioners on Thursday to negotiate a new rental agreement for the lease of their building on 7th St.
