State Officials find no trace of Chronic Wasting Disease in Ohio's Deer population.

In a press release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources it states that 519 samples were taken from deer in 2012. For the 11th year in a row all the samples returned negative for CWD.

The State Highway Patrol investigates a minor accident on Northpointe Drive.

Trooper Lanning said that 20-year-old Elizabeth Garrett was traveling southbound on Northpointe at McGlade School Road around 1:50a.m., Monday morning, when she struck a deer in the roadway.

She then drove off the right side off road and her vehicle overturned onto its top.

She was transported to Genesis Good Samaritan by Dresden EMS. An infant in the vehicle was also transported.

A Muskingum County Sheriff's Deputy was injured on Monday night when his cruiser struck a deer.

Deputy Darrin Bohn said he was following Deputy Jonathan Merry on the way to assist the Licking County Sheriff's Office on a call around 6:30 PM.  Bohn said they were traveling on State Route 146 with their emergency sirens on when Merry struck a deer close to State Route 586.

A Muskingum County Sheriff's Deputy was injured Monday night when his cruiser struck a deer.

According to Sheriff Matt Lutz, around 6:30 p.m. the deputy was traveling with his emergency sirens on to assist the Licking County Sheriff's Office on a call. Sheriff Lutz says while driving on State Route 146 in Nashport the deputy struck a deer.

Some hunters are keeping their deer as trophies.

Owner Greg Clossman of Clossman Taxidermy in Zanesville says business has been good so far this week. He offers a few suggestions to ensure that the deer remains in good condition before it is mounted.

"The sooner the better, if they're going to process it themselves, if they don't know what they're doing, call ahead, make sure they skin it right," he said.

Experts predict that 150,00 white-tailed deer will be harvested during deer gun season.

Phillips Meat Processing of Zanesville is already having a successful second day. The plant and retail shop caters to hunters interested in processing various kinds of animals.

"Yesterday was fantastic, we had 165 I believe and that's been the best we've had in two or three years on the first day," said Owner Dale Phillips.

By noon on Tuesday, they had already processed 50 deer...

Muskingum County is welcoming hunters from all over.

With the start of deer gun season also comes tourism to Muskingum County which is widely known for its great hunting locations.

"When Fall comes we know what's next, and when hunting season and so deer season is right up with that, packages are sold for the hunters coming into the area," said Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce Kelly Ashby.

Thousands of hunters hit the woods of southeastern Ohio for the start of deer gun season.

Year after year hunters come back to Dillon Falls store in Zanesville to check-in their deer. Owner Kathy McCann said that it's become a tradition for many.

"This store has been here for 80 years, you have parents, grandparents, grandparents that are bringing in their grandchildren," said McCann.

Experts say more than five-hundred-thousand hunters will hit the woods tomorrow as gun deer season begins here in the Buckeye State.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says a deer is to blame for an accident on Interstate 70.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. near mile marker 148. Trooper Adam McKenzie says a Jeep Liberty was traveling in the right, eastbound lane when the driver, Yang-Jing-Yi Lu of Marietta, struck a deer.
