A local family is in financial need to help put a loved one to rest and is reaching out to the community for donations.

Terence Degarmo, tragically and suddenly passed away on December 26th. He was only 23 years old and leaves behind a young daughter, family and friends.

The Carr Center is in immediate need of transportation for their Adult Day Care Center.

The center provides social, therapeutic and recreational activities for adults with or without disabilities, in a well supervised environment. In the past the Carr Center has utilized Z-Bus for transportation to the Adult Day Care Center, but starting in January 2013 that option will no longer be affordable.

Local volunteers and goods donations are needed to help the victims of the Joplin, Missouri disaster.

A three mile wide tornado struck the city last Sunday, killing more than 130 people, destroying countless buildings, and leaving many people homeless.

There's not as many donations filling boxes at Goodwill stores across Southeastern Ohio.

Boxes usually full of items are left mostly empty and the drop off center on Maple Avenue is quiet. Officials said they always experience a lull in donations during February and March.

According to the Muskingum Valley Red Cross, there have been 20 fires in the past four weeks.

The organization who covers Muskingum, Morgan and Perry counties has a disaster action team in place that's on call 24/7 to assist families in emergency situations.

It's a familiar sound that emerges around this time of year.

The Salvation Army is setting up for its annual six-week donation period.

Thanks to generous community support, a dog who was near-death, was given a new life, and a second chance at it.

Valerie miller found Dutchess along Dutch School Road more than two weeks ago in Frazeysburg. At the time, she was skin-and bones and severely malnourished. The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is bringing back an old resource to help enforce boating safety in the area.

It bought a boat back in 1986 and used grants to help pay off overtime for deputies to run it. Those grants eventually dried up and the sheriff's office lost touch with the boat.

Paula Lively is a living example that donating blood can make a difference.

She had complications from surgery she had 3 years ago.

"...and almost died from that surgery. I had a blood transfusion and the blood clotted it off. It saved my life, " says Lively.
