While the Muskingum County Commissioners and Engineer were able to work out funding for Grant Cliff Bridge the issue arises as to how to pay for project in the future.

Muskingum County can breath a sigh of relief when it comes to funding a local bridge project.

The county first believed that they would have to pay over $900,000 out of pocket to replace the Grant Cliff Bridge.

In a meeting Monday, with the Ohio Department of Transportation an agreement was reached where the county will pay up to $600,000 for the project.

The Muskingum County Engineer met with County Commissioners today to discuss plans and funding for a local bridge.

Some county roads may receive makeovers by summer time...

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office met with the County Commissioners Monday to present its annual paving projects for 2012. Two resurfacing projects were proposed for over 22 miles of roadway.

With the potential of oil and shale drilling in our area, some concerns have surfaced as to how this will affect the roadways...

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office is calling a meeting to discuss the possibility of permits for the heavy-load trucks associated with the drilling. Engineer Doug Davis said he wants to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Muskingum County and the Ohio Department of Transportation continue to work on Northpointe Drive.

During Wednesday's Transportation Improvement District meeting the two sides traded information about the cost of the project. Because the work on Northpointe ran over the time frame set by the Federal government at least $75,000 must be paid by local funds. Final numbers for the project weren't available from ODOT. The county engineer plans to remedy that problem in the future.

The closing of the northbound lane of Northpointe Drive has made for a headache for many motorists, but Thursday, WHIZ got a few more answers as to what is being done and the time it will take to make repairs.

An area bridge will be closed for an unknown amount of time due to an accident.

Muskingum County Engineer Doug Davis said a semi went off a bridge on Piper Road near Tucker Road around 10 Monday night. Davis said there is extensive damage to the bridge. They have a crew on site waiting to safely evaluate the bridge after the tractor trailer is removed from the stream.

Construction on a busy road in Muskingum County is over and it's opening today.  (Friday)

State Route 93 is now wider and has an extra turn lane so more trucks can enter the East Pointe Business Park.

"We actually had to take property from both sides of the street to add a turn lane for the trucks. That way we're not impeding traffic going north or southbound on St.Rt. 93 and also make it safer," Muskingum County Engineer Doug Davis said.
