While responding to a report of a hawk inside a vacant building in downtown Zanesville, the Zanesville Fire Department discovered part of side-by-side buildings had collapsed. City of Zanesville building official, Tim Smith, says both 606 and 608 Main Street are partially collapsed and will likely need to be demolished. The Master Gardeners and the Muskingum Valley Garden Society volunteers took over watering the potted plants you might have seen around downtown Zanesville after the city wasn't able to provide seasonal workers for the job.

If your commute takes you through downtown, you may have noticed the construction that began Monday morning on 5th Street.

The work that's being done, is similar to the construction that was done on main street and 6th street, which is all part of the beautification of Zanesville's downtown.

After the housing slump started a few years ago, real estate activity in downtown Zanesville is beginning to pick up again.

Public Service Director Mike Sims says the Fifth Street enhancement project has been in the works for about five years and says the city was short funding for a year or two, causing delays in the project.

Local farmers and vendors took to the Zanesville Muskingum County Welcome Center Wednesday afternoon, for the first downtown farmers market of the year.
