The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is working to make more than just the streets safer.

Starting soon, the reserve force of the sheriff's office will patrol the bike path between Dresden and Zanesville.

It's one of healthiest days of the year. At least at Dresden Elementary School.

The students at the elementary school host a Wellness Day every year to support a healthy lifestyle. Intervention teacher Connie Fellers said it's a day that people in the community help with and students get to learn all about health.

A Dresden home is a total loss after a fire Sunday afternoon.

Dresden and Frazeysburg fire departments were called to 15840 State Route 60 around 2:45 p.m. Upon arrival Dresden Fire Chief, Carl Archer, says flames were coming out of both sides of the attic. He says the fire started in the bathroom, but the cause is still being determined. A father and his two daughters live in the mobile home, but no one was home at the time of the fire. A cabin in Dresden is a complete loss after a fire Saturday afternoon.

Dresden Fire Chief, Carl Archer, says the occupants of the cabin left around noon and left a wood burner on. Around 2:00 pm a passerby called in a fire at 9260 Dresden Road. Chief Archer says when the fire crews arrived the wood cabin was fully engulfed in flames. No one was injured in the fire. It did not spread to any of the surrounding structures. The fire is currently under investigation.

A Dresden family is facing about fourth thousand dollars in damage to their home after an evening fire, but Dresden Fire Chief, Carl Archer, says the home is not a total loss.

"We found that the fire had started near the basement area and extended up the south wall of the house, " says Archer.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. at 4500 Dewey Street.

Archer says there was heavy smoke to the home when crews arrived.

Rain didn't stop ghouls and goblins from enjoying the spooktacular Dresden Halloween Festival.

This is the first year for the festival and residents were invited to dress up, have some treats and play Halloween themed games. The days events included a 5k race, pumpkin pie eating contest and costume contest. Volunteers say it was a great day for the community to come together.
