The Ohio State Highway Patrol Friday announced more details on its planned sobriety checkpoint. Sergeant Mark Leach says the event will be held in Licking County Saturday evening. The location and the time of the checkpoint will be announced Saturday morning. The checkpoint is funded by federal grant funds to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The Zanesville Highway Patrol says a sobriety checkpoint is planned for our area this week.

Troopers say the county where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the event.

The Highway Patrol says the exact location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint.

AAA has found a creative way to remind drivers to stay safe on the road this holiday season.

The event was called 'First a Friend, then a Host', which featured a friendly competition among AAA workers. They made 'mocktails', which are non-alcoholic cocktails, in order to promote sober driving. Customers were able to sample and vote for the drinks, and a book full of alcohol-free beverages is going to be published.

The Highway Patrol has announced the location of Friday’s (tonight’s) sobriety checkpoint.  Troopers along with the Somerset Police Department will set up between 8:00 pm and 12:00 am on State Route 13 just east of U.S. Route 22 in Perry County. The checkpoint, funded by federal grants, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. Troopers say if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports less drunk driving arrests this Fourth of July.

Trooper Stephen Williams of the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says locally they had around 600 stops, 400 of which were for speeding and other offenses. 75 were seatbelt violations, and only 5 were DUI arrests.
