A local fundraiser provided monetary donations to five service organizations in our area.

This year, the 17th Annual Souper Bowl raised enough money to give away five $2,500 checks to Christ's Table, Eastside Community Ministries, The Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christ, and the Muskingum County Center for Seniors.

Eastside Community Ministry held a charity golf outing at Vista Golf Course on Saturday morning.

This is the 7th year for the annual event and there were 18 teams of four who signed up to play for the good cause. Organizers say they are satisfied with this years turnout.

A Zanesville organization is taking applications for two programs that help local children go back to school in style.

Eastside Community Ministry is collecting school supplies and donations to fill up backpacks. Last year they gave away 750 backpacks to local children, and this year their goal is to reach 800 community kids.

A click will mean a can for area food pantries.

Daybreak Rotary needs you to "like" their Facebook page, for every "like" that they get a non perishable food item will be donated to Christ's Table, Eastside Community Ministry and the Salvation Army. It's part of the club's "Feed the Need" campaign.

Eastside Community Ministries are gearing up for their annual Prom Dress Giveaway. This is the fourth year for the event to benefit girls who may struggle to afford costly proms.

"We got the idea several years ago, that there were an awful lot of girls who, for whom the prom is a huge expense and that if we could arrange for some people who had dresses left over to donate those dresses it would be a benefit to everybody," Sally Goins

It takes a lot to get kids ready for the school year from new shoes to backpacks and supplies.

Thursday, Eastside Community Ministry handed out over 750 backpacks filled with gear to help families with the mounting costs during their "Tools for School" event. Volunteers are a big part  of helping make the day a success.

A line of cars wound their way around Zanesville Middle School Thursday as students prepare to go back to school.

As a new school year approaches Eastside Community Ministry handed out 800 backpacks filled with the supplies to make for a successful year. That's 351 families helped.

The executive director of Eastside Community Ministries has resigned.

Board President Anna Marie Katt tells WHIZ Reverend Robert Davidson left because of personal reasons and would not comment more. His position will not be filled.

Bishop fenwick students are giving their thanks this holiday season.

 The students took part in their 5th annual three week long food drive. Students ranging from Pre-School all the way through eighth grade prided themselves on being able to not only give thanks but to also give back to the Zanesville community.
