The season may have just changed to fall, but ODOT is already hunkering down for winter's fury.

Crews are checking over 1,700 snow plows across the state and other pieces of equipment to make sure they can handle the snow and maintain 40,000 miles of state highways.

ODOT's District 5 is already planning to have a dry-run for crews at the end of the month on October 25th.

 National Trails Fire Department was the first on the scene of the crash.

Assistant Fire Chief Steve Dupler says the first step crews take is to assess the scene to see if there are any hazards or if anyone is injured.

"You try to do this to try to help people out, so every time you arrive on something like this, you want to do everything you can, " says Dupler.
