It was a fun afternoon for the children at Falls Elementary School; They got a special reward for reaching a goal!

Last week, the school hosted the Scholastic Bookfair and Chairwoman, Jen Allen, came up with an idea to get the students to read more than just their general assignments.

A new organization at West Muskingum schools brought in some big talent to teach the importance of literacy to students.

New York Giants center and former Buckeye Jimmy Cordle read to Falls Elementary second graders as part of the new Friends of the Library Foundation. The event was the first for the foundation that's run by parents of West Muskingum students to raise funds for the school's libraries.

Some area school children are getting a lesson in recycling by making art.

Students at Falls Elementary School have been collecting bottlecaps, and using them to help illustrate different scenes on a total of four boards.

Fourth grade teacher Erin Burkhart said she got the idea after visiting the doctor's office, and her students ran with the idea.
