A cornfield caught fire in Washington Township Thursday afternoon.

Fire officials say about an acre and a half of the field near the residence at 3955 Old Wheeling Road caught fire, which they say may have been caused by a downed powerline.

"Everything is dry right now and if any kind of spark or anything and with the wind and stuff today and it kind of spreads pretty quick," said Lt. Dave Buchanan of Washington Township Fire Department.

A fire at the Maple Terrace Apartments sends four people to the hospital.

Zanesville Fire Chief Dave Lacy says at around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, fire crews responded to 2746 Maple Avenue. The fire was contained to apartment #308, but heavy smoke was also present on floors four and five.

The Zanesville Fire Department says one person was seriously hurt and three others injured in a Wednesday morning fire at an apartment complex.

 Fire Chief Dave Lacy says it happened around 7:30 am at 2746 Maple Avenue. This is the location of a five story apartment building with 100 living units owned by the Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority.

An apartment suffers extensive damage after an accidental fire in Nashport.

Fire Chief J.D. Johnson of the Falls Township Fire Department says at around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, a fire started in the kitchen of an apartment at 2855 N. Vista View Drive.

Residents were evacuated from the building while firefighters tended to the fire, which took about fifteen minutes to put out. The owner safely escaped the home uninjured.

Smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a reported fire in half.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is asking for the public's help involving a Cambridge fire that injured four firefighters Monday.

The vacant home in the 400 block of Steubenville Avenue was recently condemned. Spokesman Shane Cartmill says the cause of the fire remains undetermined. He says officials haven't been able to rule out an accidental or intentional cause. The only utility the home had was electrical service.

A second fire in Cambridge injures four area firefighters, two from the Cambridge department and two from the Cassell Station volunteer department.

A Cambridge man is dead following a house fire.

It happened around 9 p.m. at 430 North 9th Street.

Several crews, totaling 45 individuals, were called to the scene to tackle the blaze. The Cambridge Fire Chief says it started in the center of the old home and worked its way up, causing extreme damage to the attic. An old city garage, right behind the Coshocton Post Office, receives major roof damage after a fire.

Crews were dispatched to 235 North 5th Street around 1:30 Monday afternoon.

Captain Willie Arnold says the fire appears to have started in the ceiling. Firefighter were on the scene for more than four hours attempting to put out hot spots and needed a crane to remove parts of the roof to get to them.

The Zanesville Fire Department is calling a Sunday afternoon blaze suspicious.

It happened at a vacant duplex in the 1100 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Thomas says it appears the fire started near a couch and was contained to one side of the home. He says the owner had just shown the place to some people before the fire started. The department is currently interviewing people but says it has no persons of interest in this case.
