The State Fire Marshal's Office continues its investigation of a fire at a duplex in Frazeysburg.

The fire broke out around 9:45 p.m.  Wednesday at 94 South Street.

Shane Cartmill with the State Fire Marshal's office says at this time the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

Investigators say the origin of the fire is in the living room near a christmas tree.

A New Lexington family receives help from the Muskingum Valley Red Cross when a fire breaks out in their home. The home of Howard and Kelli Dickerson and their two sons at 4434 State Route 13 caught fire Wednesday night in the kitchen area. The Red Cross is assisting the family by providing funding to go shopping and for groceries.

Crews were called out to a structure fire around 9:45 Wednesday in Frazeysburg at 94 State Street, which is at the corner of State and Spellman Lane.

Frazeysburg and Dresden fire personnel, as well as Muskingum County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene. The Muskingum County Auditor's Office Web site lists the property as a two-family dwelling.

A home undergoing remodeling in Duncan Falls catches fire this afternoon.

It happened around 3 p.m. at the corner of Miller Lane and Wheeler Drive.

Duncan Falls-Wayne Township Assistant Fire Chief Steve Farus says a barrel full of burning trash outside the home caught the corner of the house on fire. He says since the home was being remodeled, there isn't very much damage.

Duncan Falls-Wayne Township and Harrison Township fire departments responded.

A Dresden family is facing about fourth thousand dollars in damage to their home after an evening fire, but Dresden Fire Chief, Carl Archer, says the home is not a total loss.

"We found that the fire had started near the basement area and extended up the south wall of the house, " says Archer.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. at 4500 Dewey Street.

Archer says there was heavy smoke to the home when crews arrived.

A Chandlersville family's trailer home has been deemed unliveable following a Friday afternoon fire.

According to New Concord Fire Chief Brent Gates, a neighbor saw flames coming from the bottom of the trailer at 11641 Chandlersville Road and called fire crews around 3:45.

Gates says the fire was electrical in nature and started underneath the trailer, with one spot burning through the living room by the sofa.

A fire severly damages a Zanesville home. Emergency crews were called to 372 Bailey Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

"First crews back of the house was on fire and other than that we don't have a whole lot of information," says Asst. Fire Chief Craig Stemm.

According to scanner traffic, a witness told police he saw two people running from the area and then saw flames in the back area of the house.

The Zanesville Fire Department is praising the efforts of a four-year-old boy who it says saved the lives of his parents and himself.

Crews were called into battle a fire just before four a.m. at 742 Westbourne Avenue.

"The house did not have a working smoke detector, and actually, the adults in the house were awakened by a four-year-old who reported to them that he smelled burnt toast in the upstairs, " says Fire Chief, Dave Lacy.

A Somerset family lost its home to fire over the weekend. The Muskingum Valley Red Cross is helping Don King and Cheryl Toppins who lived at 5385 Township Road 398-A in Perry County. The home is considered a total loss. The Red Cross is helping the couple with funding to go shopping for clothes, food and temporary housing. Fire Departments from Glenford-Hopewell Township, Somerset and Thorn Township responded to the scene on Sunday.
