While most people enjoy fireworks from a distance, those who put on the show put a lot of work into lighting up the sky...

In Zanesville, it's not as easy as pushing a button. Each boom is the result of a hand-lit firework. Hours go into setting up for the big Fourth of July display.

While they may seem harmless, the fireworks that you pick up at your local convenience store could cause some damage.

While the Zanesville Fire Department discourages using fireworks all together, many children like playing with sparklers and fire crackers around the fourth. Fire Chief Dave Lacy says that kids need supervision.

With the Fourth of July comes fireworks, but do you know which are legal to use. WHIZ has useful tips that will keep you out of trouble.

In the state of Ohio there are three types of fireworks, but there's only one kind that are legal for personal use.

$15,000 worth of illegal fireworks is found at a business in Gallia County.

Spokesman Shane Cartmill says Brown Brothers Lawn and Garden in Gallipolis was selling these fireworks to the public without a license. The store owner has been charged with illegal possession of fireworks. If convicted, the owner could face up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine.
