The month of March begins this week, so it's time for the First Friday Art Walk.
Schimmel Fitness is the featured business to host the event this month. It is currently housing the art work of Rick Crooks, a metal sculptor from Crooksville. Owner Bill Schimmel said he's amazed by Crooks' art, his creativity, and vision.

Movement on Main Center for Dance will be January's Featured Artist of the Month. Founder and Director Whitney Joseph studied ballet in Zanesville for nearly 10 years before continuing her studies at Ohio University. Today her focus is to encourage her students.

They say art comes from the heart, and that's certainly the case for Mary Wade, who is being recognized as December's Artist of the Month.
Wade is a member of the Heart of Art Studio, which is an art program for people who attend Muskingum Starlight Industries, a sheltered workshop for adults with developmental disabilities. Artist Diana Geidenberger said it's a place where both the art process and the art product are valued.

The gallery is home to six artists. Each specializes in a different kind of work. Visual artist Linda Regula has been teaching art for 31 years and knows the company of others will feed creativity. Artist Marilyn Knell took her first art lesson with Regula at age 60 and said the motivation came shortly after she decided to paint the inside of her new home.
