Governor Strickland has ordered flags be lowered at half-staff across the state of Ohio in honor of the victims of the Fort Hood tragedy.

Strickland says Ohio grieves for the victims and he's asking people to pray for those who lost their lives, those that were injured and all people whose lives were affected by the senseless violence.

Both the U.S. flag and the state of Ohio flag are to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday November 10.

This Fort Hood tradegy has a close connection to our area, 26-year-old Army Specialist Cathy Colen, a Zanesville High School graduate, was in the building at the time of the shooting.

Colen was a floor-up from where the shooting took place and texted her mother today to let her know she was safe. Her family says the trained field medic used her skills to save lives.
