The Frazeysburg Homecoming Festival concluded by candlelight Thursday night as the town of 1,300 turned out to celebrate the life of Lucas Templin.

Family members say the 11-year-old was accidentally shot and killed while playing with his best friend Tuesday afternoon.  While the town may be small, their large hearts are helping family and friends through the difficult time.

An 11-year -old boy has passed away following a tragic incident involving a gun.

According to Muskingum County Sheriff's Department Lieutenant, Mike Lecocq at approximately 3:30 p.m. their office received a 9-1-1 call that male juvenile had been shot in the chest by another male juvenile at 43 First St. in the village of Frazeysburg.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office was on the move this week.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Friday morning, the sheriff's office received an alarm for a robbery at the Duke and Duchess station at 259 Third Street in Frazeysburg. An officer pulled over the suspect's green Ford Explorer at 2:44 a.m. on North River Road West. Muskingum County Community Development Director Sheila Samson met with the county commissioners Thursday to discuss the allocation of funds.

Icy conditions in Dresden presented challenges for fire fighters at the scene of a garage fire this evening. Chris Baruning of 5180 Fawn Drive called Falls Township Fire Department after 3 PM to extinguish a fire in his garage.

A fire destroys a barn in Muskingum County.

At around 1:30 p.m. the Dresden Fire Department was called to 10362 Frazeysburg Road to deal with a fully engulfed barn fire. Firefighters say they have yet to determine a cause of the blaze.

The State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Coshocton woman.


It happened on State Route 16 near Frazeysburg around 9:00 a.m. Thursday.

The Zanesville Post reports that 60-year-old Rhonda Blair was driving west on State Route 16 when she lost control of her pick up truck and slid off the right side of the road into a median.

A family is unharmed after a fire erupts inside a mobile home in Frazeysburg this afternoon.

According to Jessica Spellman, a resident of the home on N.Canal Rd. at approximately 3 p.m. Spellman saw an orange glow coming from behind the dryer, once she pulled the dryer away from the wall she saw sparks and shortly after she witnessed flames. The Village of Frazeysburg showed their appreciation for American Veterans through the unveiling of a patriotic mural at their municipal building.

In 2012 local artist, Sean Elliott completed the middle of portion of the mural and on Monday, the left and right sides of the large painting were revealed. Elliott served as an air force desert combat instructor in Nevada and says this mural has close ties to his heart.
