The Muskingum County Board of Elections tallied up the numbers Tuesday and released the official count from the general election.

Almost 70% of registered voters in Muskingum County turned out to vote in the election, which was down around 3% from the 2008 election. However, there was an increase in the number of people who voted absentee.

"The turnout for absentee was right around 14,000 this year and in 2008 our turnout was right around 12,000 so we were up from 2008....

The General Election results are now official.

To date, the unofficial results from November 2nd only included absentee ballots and votes from all the polling locations in Muskingum County, but the Board of Elections counted and added provisional ballots Tuesday morning. All of the winners in each race stayed the same.

The Muskingum County Board of Elections is ready for the November General Election.

The board met Wednesday night to certify all of the petitions for the November ballot.

"We actually have nine tax levies, a lot of those are from the townships. And we also have six local options that will be placed on the ballet," said Director, Chris Hamill.
