Construction at the Genesis Bethesda campus continues in preparation for the finished center's opening in May of 2015.

The project cost $160 million in construction with an additional $40 million for new medical equipment and furnishings. When finished, the hospital will have all private patient rooms, a new emergency and trauma department, ICU, heart and vascular center, as well as a new outpatient cancer center.

US Congressman, Pat Tiberi, stopped in Zanesville Monday afternoon, to visit two of the Y-City's healthcare providers.

Tiberi is the representative for the 12th district in Ohio which includes Licking and Muskingum counties. He first went to the Kidney Care Center of Zanesville and then toured Genesis Bethesda Hospital to be briefed on the progress of the massive construction and renovation project.

The skyline of the north end of Zanesville sees changes and some new scenery is appearing.

The third week of August a tower crane with a 140 foot mast and 196 foot jib was brought in to assist in construction taking place on the Genesis Bethesda Campus. The crane can lift up to 22,000 pounds and will be used to lift air handling units, chillers and other materials to the upper floors of the new tower.

The new construction and renovation of Genesis Healthcare at the Bethesda Campus will be a bit cheaper thanks to Muskingum County Commissioners

Monday, the legal documents were signed, for the refinancing of the hospital's existing debt. Due to currently low interest rates, the commissioners could issue tax exempt bonds through the county, which will fund the expansion project and ultimately save the hospital money.

The hospital received a "BB+" rating from Standard & Poor's Rating Systems which will allow the hospital to sell bonds to help fund the construction and renovation of Bethesda Hospital.

"What it means is, they provided us a rating with BB+ and what that's going to allow us is to go out and market the bonds to investors," said Chief Financial Officer for Genesis Healthcare Systems, Paul Masterson.

A father serving his country was able to return home in time for the delivery of his son.

Richard Sealock and his wife Amanda welcomed Cooper on July 11th at Bethesda Hospital. Joining them in welcoming his arrival, Cooper's big brother, Xander.

A member of the U.S. Army for four years, Richard was lucky to be at the birth of both of his boys. Amanda says they owe a special thanks to the Army for this one.

Architects are now working to design Genesis' new Expanded Medical Center.

CEO of Genesis Healthcare System Matthew Perry said they hope to break ground by the end of 2012. The new facility will include a new patient care tower attached to a renovated Bethesda Hospital. Also being built on the campus will be a new outpatient cancer center and medical office building.

With the arrival of the new year, one local family welcomed the arrival of their newborn baby.

Shannon and Christopher Miller of Coshocton are the proud parents of their fourth child, Cooper James; the first baby born in 2012 at Genesis Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville.
Cooper came in at 6 lbs, 13 oz, and 21inches long.

Following the success in August, walkers laced up their shoes again for the monthly "Walk with a Doc."

To encourage healthy physical activity Genesis Healthcare System invites the community to come break a sweat. The monthly sessions begin with a local doctor giving fitness tips and health advice. The Doctor will then lead a walk around the Goursuch Fitness Trail- behind Genesis Bethesda. Today's Doctor of choice was Dan Scheereer.

Congressman Bob Gibbs made a stop at Genesis Bethesda Hospital Wednesday as part of a tour of many of the facilities in his district.

He's doing it to hear the needs and concerns of his constituents while the U.S. House is in recess. While many have expressed concerns about jobs and the economy, Gibbs himself, is also upset with what's going on on Capitol Hill, specifically the Senate. He says the house has passed many bills , two of which were his, but the Senate has not done much....
