A life saving device, the size of a deck of cards, helps patients at risk for sudden cardiac arrest and is now in use by the Genesis Healthcare System.

Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability in the United States.

Every 40 seconds someone new suffers a stroke. Symptoms sometimes include tingling on one side of the body, sudden weakness or slurred speech. But, sometimes the signs aren't as noticeable.

Sudden cardiac arrest kills nearly 300,000 Americans each year.

SCA causes a disruption in the heart's rhythm causing a lack of blood flow to the brain and vital organs. If treatment isn't initiated quickly death will occur.

A new technology is now available for patients at Genesis Healthcare.

The Genesis Wound Care Center had an open house on Thursday to unveil their two new Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers to the public. The HBO's work by providing oxygen to patient's wounds.

Muskingum County Commissioners pass a resolution to issue bonds for Genesis Healthcare.

By going through the commissioners Genesis will be able to sell tax exempt bonds to fund building of their new medical facility on the current Bethesda Campus.

Genesis CEO Matt Perry said they anticipate issuing around $300 million in bonds. They'll be paid back by Genesis not the county.

Local healthcare officials are pleased with the Ohio Governor John Kasich's decision to expand Medicaid.

Genesis Healthcare supported the move to expand the service which will help 13,000 people in their six county area, who wouldn't have coverage otherwise.

The Genesis Healthcare System has reason to celebrate.

The Trauma Center is marking its one year anniversary as a level three center. Since 2010 when the center received status as a trauma center to June of 2011 over 1,500 patients were seen and over 1,200 avoided transfer to another hospital.

A five year renewable agreement will help stabilize an over 100 year old area hospital.

Genesis Healthcare and Coshocton County Memorial announced the deal. Under the terms of the agreement Coshocton Memorial will remain independent. The move helps them gain access to $5(m) of credit. A couple in Zanesville welcome a big bundle of joy to their home.
