Some local girl scouts learn what it takes to be a leader.

The scouts are taking part in a three day leadership journey that uses activities to teach them the skills they need to be successful. The event focuses on working as a team. It began Friday with outdoor team activities.

Two girl scouts are hoping to put a smile on the faces of suffering children.

Paige Stillion and Jasmine Jewell are working on their Girl Scout Silver Award but they aren't simply focused on achieving recognition, they also want to help burn victims. Their goal is to raise funds for burn unit patients and raise awareness for fire safety. They came up with the idea after local girl Payten Newell was badly burned in an accident last June.

Area Girl Scouts are giving back to the community...

A well-known organization celebrates 100 years...

Girl Scouts of the USA hit the century old mark Monday. Regional Director Kendra O'Reilly said 100 years is a big deal for them, and she's glad that local Girl Scouts could celebrate together.

A girl scout's good deed is going a long way.

Seven-year-old Julia Gantzer wanted to do something special for our men and women serving overseas in Afghanistan.  Her mother Sarah said Julia asked her girl scout troop to raise enough money for 100 boxes of cookies, but then she had another idea.

While often seen delivering cookies, today Girl Scouts were sending them further than normal.

Boxes of cookies were unloaded today at Operation Spirit, where they will then be shipped to troops overseas. Even at a young age, they know the importance of helping.
